Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: August 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to tours and services provided by Grand Canyon Journeys, operated by GCJ LLC (“Grand Canyon Journeys,” “GCJ,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By making a reservation with Grand Canyon Journeys, guests agree to the booking, cancellation, safety, and participation terms described below.

Reservations and Payment

Reservations are subject to availability and are not guaranteed until confirmed.

Online reservations and payment processing may be provided through our third-party reservation provider, Checkfront. Additional information required to complete a reservation may be collected through the reservation process.

Guests are responsible for providing accurate contact information and reservation details.

Tour Pricing and Sales Tax

Tour prices displayed on the Grand Canyon Journeys website are quoted in U.S. dollars and, unless otherwise stated, are per person.

A 6.35% Arizona sales tax is added to the advertised tour price.

Certain tours include admissions, meals, equipment, or other services as specifically described on that tour’s page. Inclusions vary by tour.

Gratuities for guides are not included unless specifically stated otherwise.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Guests may cancel a reservation at least 24 hours before the scheduled tour departure for a full refund.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled departure may not be eligible for a refund, except when Grand Canyon Journeys determines that safety concerns or other circumstances warrant an exception.

Our website also advertises free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure.

Weather and Safety

Guest safety is a priority for Grand Canyon Journeys.

Arizona weather and outdoor conditions can change quickly. Grand Canyon Journeys reserves the right to modify, delay, reschedule, or cancel a tour when we determine that weather, road conditions, excessive heat, snow, wildfire, flooding, park conditions, or other circumstances could create an unreasonable safety risk.

If Grand Canyon Journeys cancels a tour because we determine conditions are unsafe, guests will receive a full refund.

We also understand that guests may have reasonable concerns about weather or safety conditions. If a guest has a reasonable concern regarding the safety of participating in the tour, Grand Canyon Journeys may cancel the reservation and provide a full refund.

We ask guests to communicate such concerns with us as soon as possible so we can discuss actual conditions and available options.

Hiking Tours and Extreme Heat

Hiking in Arizona and the Grand Canyon involves physical exertion and exposure to natural conditions, including heat, elevation, uneven terrain, steep trails, changing weather, wildlife, and limited access to immediate assistance in some locations.

Guests should select activities appropriate for their abilities and communicate relevant limitations or concerns to Grand Canyon Journeys before the tour.

Grand Canyon Journeys may modify the trail, distance, departure time, or itinerary when necessary for guest safety.

During periods of excessive summer heat or other hazardous conditions, Grand Canyon Journeys may shorten, modify, substitute, or cancel a hiking tour for the safety of our guests.

Our Grand Canyon hiking tours are customized to the group’s fitness level, and the current website lists hiking-tour child pricing for ages 10–15.

Children and Car Seats

Children are welcome on many Grand Canyon Journeys tours. Age requirements may vary depending on the tour and activity.

Guests should review the specific tour page or contact Grand Canyon Journeys if traveling with young children.

Where a child safety seat or booster seat is required or appropriate, Grand Canyon Journeys can provide one when requested in advance.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising children throughout the tour.

Changes to Tours and Itineraries

Tour descriptions and itineraries represent the experience we intend to provide but cannot guarantee that every stop, route, viewpoint, restaurant, attraction, or activity will always be available.

Grand Canyon Journeys may modify an itinerary because of circumstances including:

  • Weather or extreme temperatures
  • Road closures or traffic
  • National Park Service restrictions
  • Wildfire or emergency conditions
  • Attraction closures
  • Crowding
  • Seasonal conditions
  • Safety considerations
  • Other circumstances outside our reasonable control

When changes are necessary, we will make reasonable efforts to provide a suitable alternative while maintaining the overall quality and character of the tour.

Pickup and Guest Delays

Grand Canyon Journeys provides scheduled pickup for applicable tours from designated hotels, B&Bs, accommodations, or agreed pickup locations.

If a guest is not present at the scheduled pickup time, we will make reasonable efforts to contact the guest and determine what has happened rather than simply leaving immediately.

Guests should keep their provided telephone number available on the day of the tour and notify us as soon as possible if they expect to be delayed.

Significant guest delays may require changes to the itinerary so the tour can still be completed safely and within operating constraints.

Wine Tours and Alcohol

Wine tasting is available only to guests who meet the applicable legal drinking-age requirements. Guests must be at least 21 years old to consume alcoholic beverages.

For tours where Grand Canyon Journeys includes a wine tasting, one tasting is included by Grand Canyon Journeys as described for that tour. Additional tastings, alcoholic beverages, bottles, food, or other purchases are the guest’s responsibility unless specifically stated otherwise.

Wineries and other alcohol-serving establishments may require valid government-issued identification and retain control over whether alcohol is served.

Grand Canyon Journeys reserves the right to take reasonable action when alcohol consumption creates a safety or behavioral concern.

Guest Conduct

We want every guest to have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Grand Canyon Journeys reserves the right to refuse service or end a tour when a guest engages in behavior that is dangerous, threatening, abusive, seriously disruptive, unlawful, or creates an unreasonable risk to the guest, guide, other participants, members of the public, property, or vehicle.

A tour terminated because of serious guest misconduct may not be eligible for a refund.

Personal Belongings

Guests are responsible for their personal belongings during tours.

Grand Canyon Journeys is not responsible for personal property that is lost, forgotten, damaged, or left at a tour location, restaurant, attraction, or in a vehicle, except to the extent responsibility may be imposed by applicable law.

If we find an item left in one of our vehicles, we will make reasonable efforts to reunite it with its owner.

Outdoor and Travel Risks

Travel and outdoor activities inherently involve some risks that cannot be completely eliminated.

Depending on the tour, these may include changing weather, heat, elevation, uneven terrain, wildlife, road travel, hiking, natural hazards, and conditions within parks and wilderness areas.

Guests are responsible for following reasonable safety instructions provided by their guide and for informing Grand Canyon Journeys of concerns that may affect their ability to safely participate in a selected activity.

Third-Party Services and Attractions

Some tours involve independent third parties such as restaurants, wineries, National Park facilities, tribal attractions, reservation providers, and other attractions or service providers.

Their operating hours, rules, availability, accessibility, and services may change without notice and are not always within Grand Canyon Journeys’ control.

When an included third-party experience becomes unavailable, we will make reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate alternative when possible.

Photographs and Guest Privacy

Grand Canyon Journeys does not automatically claim permission to use photographs or videos of guests for advertising or marketing purposes merely because they participated in a tour.

Any use of identifiable guest photographs for promotional purposes should be subject to appropriate permission.

Website Information

We make reasonable efforts to keep tour descriptions, pricing, availability, schedules, inclusions, and other website information accurate and current.

Occasional errors or changes may occur. If there is a material discrepancy affecting a reservation, Grand Canyon Journeys will make reasonable efforts to address it with the guest.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, the Grand Canyon Journeys website, original written content, branding, logos, design elements, and original materials are owned by or licensed to GCJ LLC and may not be reproduced or commercially used without permission except as permitted by applicable law.

Privacy

Information collected through our website, communications, and reservation process is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
